Discussing Performance

BTRC's one-day program, Discussing Performance, enables managers to deal with minor and more serious variations from expected performance. This program addresses the importance and mechanics of redirecting the off-track performance before it requires formal corrective/disciplinary action. The program places strong emphasis on encouraging the performer to take responsibility for correcting/improving his or her own performance. Discussing Performance kicks off with the training video, The Credibility Factor: What Followers Expect from Leaders, which emphasizes the importance of honesty in the relationship between manager/leader and direct report/team member.

Discussing Performance addresses:

  • The Importance of Stating Clear Performance Expectations
  • Using Questions to Explore Root Cause of Problems
  • Getting the Performer to Acknowledge the Problem
  • Exploring Solutions
  • Establishing a Plan
  • Following-up
